The Life Science & Biotech Mentoring Program is part of a set of initiatives of the BioMentors Club with which P-BIO intends to help in the development of new projects and innovative start-ups in life science and biotechnology.
This Program is designed to allow those who have experience in the life science and biotechnology sector to share it with those who don’t have it yet.

The mission of the Life Science & Biotech Mentoring Program is to:
▮ Encourage and support the creation and growth of life science & biotechnology start-ups throughout the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Portugal;
▮ Attract investment to the national life science & biotechnology sector;
▮ Contribute to the growth, visibility and impact of the Portuguese life science & biotechnology sector, both nationally and internationally.
This program is for Portuguese life science / biotechnology-based projects or start-ups, particularly in the following areas: biomedical, medtech, biopharma, digital health, synthetic biology, agricultural, marine and industrial biotech.
Experienced mentors
All mentors are selected from among the best life science and biotechnology experts in Portugal, based on their area of expertise, professional experience and skills as advisors.
Mentoring plan
The mentoring program is supported by the design, development and monitoring of a mentoring plan, depending on the specific requirements of each project or start-up that applies as a mentee. The mentoring plan can last up to 18 months.

Participation in the Life Science & Biotech Mentoring Program of the BioMentors Club is free of charge.
1. Application submission
Applications for the Life Science & Biotech Mentoring Program of the BioMentors Club are accepted on an ongoing basis.
2. Screening Interview
After receiving the application, the program staff schedules an interview with the project’s team (mentees) to discuss the project needs, aims and ambitions.
3. Project evaluation
The project is evaluated by the board of the BioMentors Club and a decision on enrolment in the Life Science & Biotech Mentoring Program is made.
4. Mentoring Plan
The program staff proposes a mentoring plan with milestones, that can last up to 18 months, depending on the project needs. A lead mentor is assigned, with additional mentors engaged if required.
5. Working towards milestones
After accepting the mentoring plan, the project team is ready to start the mentoring program and is able to put in action the mentoring plan. The program staff is responsible for monitoring the milestones achieved throughout time.
6. Networking
As soon as the project team is enrolled in the Life Science & Biotech Mentoring Program, they become members of the BioMentors Club and are, therefore, able to participate in the all the parallel networking activities organized.
7. Program completion & feedback
At the end of the mentoring program, feedback from both the project team and the mentor(s) is gathered by the program staff, in order to promote the continuous improvement of the Life Science & Biotech Mentoring Program.
